Logic Pro 9 has a tab to transient like function, like Pro Tools, built in to it. However, the function does not utilize tab and does not have a key command assigned to it. In this lesson we’ll learn how to make this transient detection command a bit more easily accessible.
The first thing we need to do is go to Logic Pro>Preferences>Key Commands
Next we need to find the the “Forward by transient” and “Rewind by transient” commands by simply typing transient in the search box in the upper right.
Now click on the “Learn by key position” button and enter a key command. I selected Ctrl+Option+Left Arrow and Ctrl+Option+Right Arrow for the two commands.
After you have your key commands set, close the Key Commands window and select an audio region and use your new key command to “tab to transient.” Press the backslash ( \ ) key to split the regions.
